Song of the Cicada examines conscious reemergence. Named for the Brood X cicada who hatched by the billions in 2021, Song of the Cicada questions our purpose and intention on this planet. When these cicadas emerge after 17 years underground, they shed their exoskeleton to reveal a tender and vulnerable body. They physically release a ghost of their former selves to fulfill their purpose. This exhibition discusses how we arrived at this moment, as well as ways we may imagine new futures together.
