Sedimentary creates an idealized fiction from a combined past. It is a compression of time and memory onto a singular plane: a physical manifestation of a paragon of place. It acknowledges the impossibility of the ideal, and disregards it wholeheartedly. The result is an ongoing set of navigable landscapes formed by stitching together boundaries from the artist’s cultural narrative. Sedimentary begins with the same seven boundaries as seen in many other bodies of work. In life, these boundaries are the in-between non-places. In this body of work, they are the very thing that determines place. They are the borders that, when unified, create an ideal.
